Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrive in Galveston, Texas, the last corner of the United States, to ensure all enslaved people be freed. Today, Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States. To celebrate, we will have a lunch and learn with our own Joe Ella Rivers. She will teach us about the history of Juneteenth and why it is important we remember the bloodshed. We will also enjoy a delicious soul food lunch provided by our culinary department.
