HERstory serves as a tribute to the unique journey, experiences, and contributions of an individual living with dementia. Each HERstory carries a rich past of memories, relationships, and accomplishments that define their identity. As dementia progresses, memories begin to fade. Preserving and sharing these narratives become invaluable in honoring the person affected and maintaining their dignity. Marjorie B. was born at home in January 1947 in a small town in Missouri, one of eleven children. Her family moved to Nemaha, NE, where Marjorie was the homecoming queen and was involved in many sports, including soccer and tennis. After graduating high school, she moved to Kansas City to look for work. There, she was introduced to her future husband, Robert, by her sister, Freda.
The couple married in June 1967 and raised three children in the country near Pleasant Hill, MO. Marjorie was a great horsewoman. She trained horses and rode in local parades. In the 90s, they moved to Independence, MO, until 2020, when Marjorie moved to a senior living community. She has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
