As Culinary Director at The Madison Senior Living, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it centers on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it counts.
One of my earliest memories is watching my mom cook in a senior home. Although she later moved on to work in fast food, that early experience sparked my lifelong passion for cooking for older adults. With a love for senior care, quality food, and employee development, becoming a culinary director in senior living felt like the natural path for me.
What prepared me most for this role is my 30 years of experience in restaurant and hospitality, along with a background in senior dining. My culinary journey has taken me from bar and grills to pastry kitchens and fine dining establishments. I’m always looking to push my culinary ceiling as high as possible.
What I love most about working in senior living is the residents. Every day, they greet me with warmth—offering advice, laughter, pats on the back, and honest feedback. I hear incredible stories that stay with me. While I could cook anywhere, I could never find the kind of love I receive here.

Each morning, I start my day by saying good morning to my staff. They are the heartbeat of our daily operations, and I’m grateful for their dedication. I lead with the mindset that I work for them—so they feel empowered to give their best.
To anyone considering a culinary career in senior living, I’d say: lead with your whole heart, but don’t forget to find balance. The work is demanding, but the rewards far outweigh the challenges. Most importantly, listen to your team—they often see things you might not.
For me, success means building a team that shares core values and a collective passion for excellence. When everyone moves in the same direction, the outcomes are powerful.
At day’s end, I take the greatest pride in knowing I’ve contributed something meaningful—whether it’s a favorite dish, a heartfelt conversation, or a comforting moment. Thank you for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to serve at your table. I’m truly honored.
