“My grandmother was a resident during her end of life at a sister facility to The Madison in Joplin, MO, named Wildwood. Being a KC resident, I wanted to do something in her honor for a facility here. Kelela posted on Facebook that she wanted to do something nice for her residents outside, so we partnered on a project to bring seating spaces in the courtyard for residents to be able to go outside and enjoy nature as part of their care while at The Madison. Kelela was so passionate to work with, and her love for her residents and was obvious every step of the way, along with honoring someone she didn’t even know. She and Joey truly have a passion for what they do, and they set that example for the rest of their team. “What a pure joy and blessing Kelela Kiyono, Resident Services Director is! Her ability to create unique experiences for the residents is amazing. She makes living at The Madison fun and adventuresome, improving quality of life for all. Kelela genuinely cares for each resident and gives that extra effort to help new residents feel welcome and part of the community. That goes for family members too. We love her! We, as a family, are so happy that mom made the decision to make The Madison her home. She has lived there just 2 1/2 months and the improvement in her overall health has been remarkable.
